A tester's findings establish what is known before remediation. After decontamination, testing establishes the remaining residue; a visual inspection or a clean-looking room cannot substitute for that evidence.
For rental-property work under the 2026 regulations, paid decontamination contractors and those carrying out the relevant testing must be separate. Confirm the testing arrangements before accepting a remediation scope. Different brand names alone do not establish the required separation.

Does any positive meth test mean the property needs decontamination?
Not automatically. The type of test, levels, locations and applicable property requirements matter. A screening result may require detailed testing or review before remediation can be scoped. Send the full evidence rather than relying on a positive label or an isolated number.
Which meth contamination rules apply to rental homes?
The rental-property regulations that took effect on 16 April 2026 set 15 µg/100 cm² as the maximum acceptable meth residue level. They also prescribe testing and decontamination requirements. Can the person doing the work also carry out the final testing?
The required testing must be separate from the person carrying out decontamination. For paid rental-property work, confirm the prescribed separation between the contractor and testing parties before work is agreed. Restoration Company does not offer to certify or clear its own decontamination.

The work is followed by the required testing under the applicable framework. Its findings determine whether further decontamination is needed. A clean appearance, absence of odour or a contractor's assurance does not replace that testing.
